Practical Ways for not Stressing Out Before A Test

Hi there! Our blog post today is intended to help you out in times when you find yourself stressing, huffing and puffing before a (final, maybe?!) test! We will present you with simple, practical ways by which you can save time and energy and not fall into the "panic trap" before a test.

1. Study during all year, months and weeks leading to the exam and make sure you don't have any questions on the subject. If you don't understand some points of the lesson, then don't be shy! Raise your hand and ask your teacher.. or you fellow student(s)!

2. Divide the subject into smaller parts that you can digest more easily. Make headlines, highlight key words, write a comprehension of what you read, explain what you know and /or have read with your own words.. to someone you know --- eg your pet, a friend, a brother, etc.

3. Read the already solved sample exercises, applications of theory, etc.

4. Test yourself! Make "yes-no" answers to various questions and portions of theory you have just learned about OR short-answer questions or matching exercises.

5. Read under many different settings, environments and lightings. This will prepare you and make you more able to accomodate yourself in a dark or very bright classroom on the day of the test, a room with uncomfortable or too comfortable a chair, annoying noises, etc

6. Eat properly before the big day! Your brain needs much more energy when you are anxious and stressing yourself out reading! Choose foods that are rich in protein, carbohydrates, eat plenty of fruits and drink lots of water!

7. Get some rest. No matter how hard you read you will not be able to function at your best if you feel tired and drained!

8. Don't panic and don't read in the moments before taking the test! This time is for you to relax and not assimilate any more info!

9. Have the proper tools with you! Pick your best pen, pencil, eraser and sharpener! If you are not sure about the result of an equation or a question, use the draft section or a blank paper and make your calculations there. Use bullets, keywords or the steps leading to the solution rather than spend your time there.

10. If one section, question or problem on the test seems too difficult for you then skip it and go to the next one. This will save you considerable time.

11. Before handing your paper to your examiner/ teacher check your answers out!

The Only Person That Went On Strike

photo:  Florian Klauer Hi! Today we will write about when approximately a graduate student lands his first job as a teacher. The time is  estimated to 3-5 years after graduation on average . What does this graduate do in the meantime? Work as a tutor? A cashier? Make a career move? Open his own business? Work as waiter/tress? Change their career path? Do voluntary and unpaid work? Go into higher studies? The answer for me was/is simple. I would not wait for private companies or schools to hire me! Neither for public schools! I had sent my curriculum vitae to EVERY private school and they would not even bother to answer me or even call me for an interview.  I tried one year. No result. I tried the next year. Same. Well, guess what!  After the 2nd try I NEVER ever sent them again my CV.  "Why?" you may ask. Because I will not beg for a f** job. I am not the type of person who will lick a(r)sses to get ahead in life....

Summer Holiday

photo: pexels After a draining year, the school term has come to an end. Now it's finally vacation and me-time. Off to the closest beach and off to somewhere adventurous and exotic we go... ... leaving all our worries behind and trying to relax and enjoy ourselves . Good company and a pleasant, easy-reading book is all we need for now. See you next year, alligators! Au revoir (our friends)!

Why I don't post my Teacher Achievements

photo: Miesha Moriniere We live in a modern world where everything is falling apart. We live in a society where we witness constant and everyday attacks on core values and principles. On our ideals. When everyone is looking for the opportunity to attack another based on political correctness or their beliefs I will not give them any more ground for interaction! That's why I don't post my achievements and especially "teacher moments" or (my) students online. Why should I? To brag? To show others that I am proud of them? To showcase all the gifts I have received from them and their parents (and I can reassure you I have received many)? To show off all the drawings they have given me? (which I also have many of) Is this what will make me a good teacher? Will online social media posting draw me into the category of exemplar teachers? Absolutely not.. ! Posting my whole (teacher) life on the social media? Who gives a $h!T about what I do as a teacher? I ...
